Green hydrogen: The key to efficient storage

Green hydrogen enables large-scale, long-term storage of renewable energy and contributes to the decarbonisation of sectors that are difficult to electrify, such as heavy transport and industry, and facilitates greater integration of the energy system. An essential energy solution to move towards a sustainable and decarbonised future.

The transition to renewable energy: A crucial step

The transition to renewable energy is essential to combat climate change. In addition to mitigating environmental impacts, this transition offers economic, social and public health benefits, contributing to a sustainable and equitable future.

Energy storage: Maximising renewable potential.

It allows excess energy to be captured during periods of high production and released when demand is higher, thus balancing supply and demand. This improves the stability of the electricity system and reduces costs by optimising energy use.

Practical activity: Exploring the green hydrogen value chain.

In this workshop, participants will explore the hydrogen value chain, from its production through the electrolysis of water to its storage and conversion into electricity using a fuel cell. The workshops are aimed at students in the primary school, lower and upper secondary education, tertiary education and vocational training.

Workshop objectives

To understand the importance of renewable energy storage to ensure a constant and reliable electricity supply.

To become familiar with how fuel cells work and their ability to convert hydrogen into electrical energy.

Learn the basic principles of electrolysis and how to break down water into hydrogen and oxygen.

Experiment with the production and use of hydrogen as a renewable energy storage source.
