This hydrogen is used as fuel in hydrogen fuel cells, in the decarbonisation of industrial activities, or to store surplus energy from renewable sources. The generation plant is located on PLOCAN&#8217;s offshore Oceanic Platform and using exclusively renewable energies, places the Canary Islands at the global energy forefront. The infrastructure designed by PLOCAN will be an island-scale prototype system, combining self-consumption, smart energy management through machine learning and artificial intelligence, marine technologies and energy storage.
